Uses
Poly(ethene)
finds application in a range of engineering processes including blow moulding,
injection moulding, film, pipes and cable insulation. The properties of
HDPE and LDPE are not the same, and their uses relate to this. In particular,
LDPE (or LLDPE) is easier to use for making thin films, but weathers more
rapidly than HDPE. HDPE is more chemically inert, and retains its structure
to higher temperatures than LDPE, but is more rigid.
